Electronic waste is the world's fastest-growing solid waste stream — and one of its least visible. Every year, millions of tonnes of discarded electronic equipment accumulate globally, carrying with them toxic materials, recoverable metals, and an environmental cost that disproportionately falls on communities with the least recourse. In India, the gap between e-waste generated and e-waste formally processed tells a particularly urgent story. This infographic was developed to tell it — drawing on the Global E-Waste Monitor Report 2024 and Data.gov.in to build a clear, accessible, and visually resolved picture of the crisis and its context.
